There are several reasons to wear an elbow brace. It is very important to have the correct elbow brace and to ensure it is worn in the proper way.

The most common use for an elbow brace is for tennis or golfer’s elbow. Also called an elbow clasp in this case, treating the tennis elbow requires the brace to be worn below the elbow, instead of directly on it. This will transfer the pressure from the elbow itself to the area directly under the brace. It should be worn while doing all activities for complete relief.

Whichever type of elbow brace is needed, if the pain persists it is always best to see a doctor.

Another  type of elbow brace is the “Elbow Heat Retainer Support”.

With this brace heat is used in addition to the support provided by the brace itself. The heat helps blood circulation in the areas affected and speeds up the healing  process.

However, it is not good to use the heat or even just an elbow brace for a long time, as it could cause muscle wastage in the area. It should not be used simply to hide the pain. If this happens, rest the elbow for a while instead as it is probably being over-used at this point.

Whichever type of elbow brace is needed, if the pain persists it is always best to see a physician.

Elbow pain is a common cause of discomfort for many people.

The elbow is the joint in the middle of the arm that allows the arm to bend like a hinge. The bicep is the muscle that allows the elbow to flex, and the tricep is the muscle that allows the elbow to bend. Tendons are also attached to the elbow; often these can become inflamed and are quite painful.

Elbow pain can be debilitating, and it is important to seek treatment before symptoms worsen, or the length of recovery time could increase. The better care we take of our joints, the less likely we are to experience these conditions.

I’ve just published two articles about the cause of elbow injuries and elbow pain treatment. Click below now for further information:

If you suffer from elbow pain it is very useful to understand how the elbow works.

The elbow joint is the hinge joint located in the center of the arm. It is a complex joint made up of three separate relationships; the humero-ulnar joint, the humeroradial joint and the superior radio-ulnar joint.

Each of these separate joints is comprised of two of the three bones of the arm; the humerus, the radius and the ulna. The bony projection at the rear of the joint, sometimes known as the funny bone, is the olecranon.

The elbow joint is considered to be the most stable joint in the human body, but is also often the site of injury and cause of pain.

While the elbow is considered the most stable joint in the body, it is not immune to disease and injury.

Some of the more common types of injuries include dislocation, fracture, tendonitis and bursitis. Diseases of the elbow include arthritis and infection.

Elbow injuries and diseases generally affect athletes and extreme hobbyists, such as mountain climbers and body builders, due to the tendency of overuse of the elbow in repetitive motions.

Tendonitis, also known as tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow, is the inflammation of the tendons that surround the elbow joint due to overuse of the joint.

Bursitis is caused by similar circumstances, but affects the bursa that surrounds the joint.

Arthroscopic surgery, or keyhole surgery can be performed on the elbow to diagnose and treat conditions inside the joint. Arthroscopic surgery requires only a very small incision, hence the name “keyhole” surgery.

An advantage of arthroscopic elbow surgery is that since the incision made in this type of elbow surgery is small, the recovery time is very quick and most patients are able to go back to work in just a few days.

Post-operative braces available to support the elbow after surgery.

These braces start on the upper arm just above the elbow and extend down arm to the hand.  The braces are adjustable and come in a different range of motion settings.  They can also be set for flexibility.

Due to their complexity using post-operative braces requires seeing a doctor for individual advice.
